I was thinking a closed filter on the end of the turbo would be better but there is no-where decent to put a cold feed. There is no chance to go straight through the wing as the fuel heater box is in the way. I was thinking about just making a hole and putting it straight out of the wheel arch.

Will this stand up to normal driving? At the worst a flooded road? I will be going off-road but no river crossings. I would fit a bypass valve too but I doubt water would get in anyway in those conditions, correct me if I am wrong?

Turning right in the right hand land I have Chavtastic in his Clio first trying to overtake on the inside lane of the roundabout then the outside lane,he briefly hangs back before overtaking over chevrons in the middle lane, while giving me the "wnaker"hand shake, before coming to a screeching halt in the the line of stationary traffic, you know the type windows down music blaring trying to fcuk off as many people as possible,He then sits in his car and proceeds to roll what I can only describe as a "herbal" roll up,in between swigging on his can of Stella .I am behind him with the benefit of being ever so slightly higher up and with a much better view of the police car a few cars ahead also waiting in the queue, when the Gods answer my call Mr Chavtastic ignores the bus only signs and proceeds to
drive down the bus lane
undertake the police car
whilst smoking his spliff

The blue lights start to flash and Chavtastic is then pulled over to have a "word"
The look on the chavs face as I slow clap him
priceless :nice:

Finally took the tailgate apart to see whats what. I was thinking the motor was detatched etc.

After a quick look around I noticed the spring that assists the window was looking a bit dry and rusty. I gave the spring a good wire brush down and blow out with air then greased it up along with the runners.

###### window zooms up and down now, with no more 'boing' type spring sounds as it's moving.

Hope this might help someone else.

After many years of land rover ownership I finally got fed up of being deaf and uncomfortable so I recently bought a surf. The one thing I've noticed is it's seems to run quite hot. The temperature gauge reads normal and the heaters get hot quick. But under the bonnet it seems to be roasting but it doesn't smell hot. Is this just the way these are? I am an agricultural mechanic so im not mongole when it comes to motors. I'm after a fairly quick answer because I'm driving to holland in it on Friday fully loaded and don't really want to end up in a cloud of steam on the continent.
I will look after it but I will certainly get my monies worth out of it like I did with my previous (and first) car; a Peugeot 206 which I loved and abused just as much. Despite it being lowered (not what you guys are used to) I took it where no Peugeot has gone before, which is why I upgraded and ended up here.
I am a member on 206info.co.uk and am the 20th highest poster and a well know member. I hope to do the same here.

The Surf is just becoming annoying as hell. The mileage just got worse because now I only do 120kms with 30liters of diesel. I have no idea what happened to is earlier 7km/liter usage. The only thing done to it is repair the fuel pump, injectors and nozzles in a hope it will be better. Our old 1991 Isuzu Trooper does better (8-10kms/liter).

A garage told me that it the Surf needs an engine overhaul. And overhauling an engine here costs a lot, I mean a lot. So I just wanted your opinion first. Some problems I notice on the Surf are:
> gray-ish smoke comes out of the when I open the engine oil cap while the engine is running,
> the smoke is clear blue in the morning, then goes away after the car heats up (but a deep black comes out when you give it a bit more gas),
> the car has no power when I drive it after parking in school for 7hrs (parked in blazing sun)

So do I really need an engine overhaul?

P.S: I am easy on the accelerator pedal and coast downhills. Plus I always stay mostly above 60km/hr.
