  • Windscreen glass availability (3rd gen trux)

I hope this doesnt happen to anyone else out there !

Yesterday, whilst returning my wife and two very tiny ( 2 yrs and 1 year ) grandchildren from local beach we were crusin along a main A road dual carriageway which had heavily overgrown trees grass bushes alongside when very suddenly loud crash and windscreen was starred across full width caused by half brick bouncing off. Managed to retain control and stopped in next layby where met 6 other unfortunates to encounter this incident....one windscreen had two impact marks pointing in my thoughts to multi perpetrators....anyhow no body hurt thank goodness...waited for police etc...

To avoid paying MORE that excess, my insurance advises contacting certain number which is a major windscreen fitting firm / nationwide.....only snag is...one week wait for availability of new screen....yes I am on mainland, yes I am prepared to drive to fitting place 20 miles away with ski goggles in place ( wondered if I would ever use them apart from wintertime
So, maybe it would be handy spare part for you guys with evrything ! Spare windscreen ON TAP

I think you will find that a Hilux pickup after 1997 has the same screen, someone on here had one fitted and I'm sure that was the answer.

I had mine replaced by RAC auto windscreens 2 weeks ago, it took them a week to get it after i told them that they would have to get it from toyota i also asked them to get a replacement rubber which they did, this was all done through the insurance company for £50.

I am having the same trouble now. The company tried fitting a Colorada screen, it dont fit... I asked them if they had a 1997 up Hilux screen, they did but it was with a green tint. Wouldn't go with the rest of the bronze tint, so now they have to find/ordfer me one, said it could take upto 4-6 weeks if coming from Japan... Hopefully someone in Europe will have one!!! Top tip, dont leave your windscreen to get fixed 2 days BEFORE your MOT is due...

Very sorry to hear that friend ....I s'pose you "asked" them to go to Toyota dealer for screen....they wont be very happy...they deal usually with only one maybe two specialised suppliers, but IMHO they DONT need to go to Japan for a genuine tinted toyota 3rd gen screen, these are available in uk as I write, but take up to a week to get to highlands of scotland (where i live ) again, push them to Toyota Parts dept...for your sake..

                      3rd gen windscreen

Can anyone please tell me the part number for a 1998 KNZ 185 Surf windscreen with the tinted upper portion.

And the sealing rubber number also.

                      Thanks in advance.

                      Mike
