  • Lost power and revs 1kz

I have lost power on my 1994 Hilux surf 1kz 3.0 diesel engine. One day I parked and following morning couldn't start. I called the mechanics who said the electronic fuel pump was gone. I replaced with a second hand pump. It started but it is only giving me revs up to 900rpm in idle mode. If I prime the lift pump which seems to be collapsing, the revs only go up to 1000rpm and drops to 900rpm if stop priming. please help:

    Did you re-set the ECU?

Try swapping out the correction resistors from your old fuel pump.

what do you mean by collapsing?

it sounds like it sucking air in and/or got a fuel blockage.

tweak'e . The primer becomes softer immediately after the engine starts I have checked the fuel line, its not showing any signs of damaged pipes.

            thats normal.
if it requires more than 2-3 pumps to make it hard then somethings wrong.

mine went few weeks back, and wouldn't prime, after running out accidentally. Fuel filter was near empty and wouldn' fill when I checked, depsite fuel in the lines in and out. Filling the fuel filter with ATF and turning it over got it sorted (ta Albannach).
