      • Ha don whacker brilliant
Yeah that 2nd gear is lethal! I love it!
Gonna need some new tyres very soon :-)
Although, now another problem has risen its little head
I noticed earlier that my dash lights were flickering, I kept an eye on it and it got a little worse, when I accelerate hard my wipers flick on, the dash lights all go out, the stereo goes off for a split second. I kept driving to see if I could move a few wires round and pin point what it might be, after about ten mins my head lights went out. I still had side lights and full beam but no dipped beam on both sides.
Took it home as it was nearly dark, switched off the surf, tried to restart and it sort of started but all my dash lights flashed brightly then it wouldn't turn over and just clicked as if the battery was dead. Tried it again in neutral and it started first time, still had the lights flicking on and no head lights though, tested both battery's while it was running and both had 13.78 volts, tried again while stopped and both at 12.60 going down slowly.
Just tried it again in park it won't seem to turn over, if it does for 1 second it then stops and clicks. Wiring under the hood all looks good, wiggled the ecu about and that made no difference.
The alarm keeps beeping randomly too, as if its losing power for a split second.
        So close yet so far
        ALL THE GEAR!............no idea!

        • Check the earth connections, especially at the batteries.
These engine don't like anything less than a solid 12 volts, and if there's a break in power, the ECU will re-set itself and will need to re-learn everything again.
Make sure the alternator plug is secure too.

I don't think I tightened the hose clamps either side of the AFM by the way. They're not flappy loose, just enough to be able to rotate the AFM.

          • Yeah I tightened them all up when I put the fuel dampner back on,
            thanks donwhacker ;-)
I will try to have a look tmrw if I get time
            I'll keep you posted

              Holy crap! (Page 11)

First time I've seen this photo and I can see why the filter was clogged!

How did the tank get so rusty in there?
All the tanks I've flushed out were all clean and shiny inside, no rust at all.

              • Absolutely no idea
I think cause I left the thing empty for so long the crap dried on and managed to stay there when I flushed it, then as it's had petrol in there for a while it's soaked the crap and dislodged it.
I'll have that properly cleaned now

                • Fixed it
The thin white wire coming off the left battery as you look at it from the front had nearly snapped inside and was hanging on by the sheath.
                  This blew both headlight lamps
Not sure how the wipers got involved though but prob solved
                  What's next :-)

                  • Another update

Unfortunately the company that does the tank cleaning has gone bust :-(
So I had decided to use electrolysis to hopefully clean the tank.
Couple of photos below of before and after the first 24 hrs.
Got round to doing the exhausts, I will post a video of her running as soon as I work out photo bucket :-)

                      • After 24 hrs. I have now added a battery in between the charger and the tank to stabilise the current fluctuation

                            • Ok so here is the tank after the last 12 hours of electrolysis and after I washed it out with bilt & hamner detox c and a few bolts to remove the rust.
I think the electrolysis loosened a lot of the rust and the detox c and the bolts washed most if it off.
Also a few pics of the new zorsts :-)
Just had a major leak from the hp power steering pipe at the teetering pump due to the fitting coming loose but all sorted now.
